The plastic parts are delivered by the part holding fixtures to the heat platen/insert assembly and the plastic interface is melted for a set amount of time and controlled depth to displace a desired amount of plastic from each side of the mating parts. Once the desired amount of melt is achieved, the parts are retracted from the heat platen/insert assembly by the part holding fixtures and the heat platen/insert assembly is withdrawn. After the heat platen/insert assembly is removed, both halves of the holding fixtures with the mating parts are brought together for a set amount of time allowing the parts to bond and cool under pressure.
Extol's Rapid Conductor Series of servo-driven hot plate welders (Models RC1015, RC1524 and RC2036) feature rugged welded steel tubing frame construction with Blanchard-ground steel surface plates and high speed servo-driven heat and tooling platens that provide precise force and distance control.
